Does the wiring harness to the speedometer sensor just unplug? 700

Hi,

I found out why my speedometer isn't working. There's a wire broken off right at the sensor in the rear differential (1990 740 GL).

What I couldn't tell during my hasty inspection was whether the wiring harness feeds into a plug that can unsnap from the sensor or if it goes into the sensor itself. Can I just replace (or fix) the plug or must the whole sensor be replaced?
