91 745 turbo wagon --- having trouble atatching picture, still trying.
I’m so glad that the plugs (pressure filter, check valve, pressure relief valve) under the over drive oil pan finally budged. However, there are a few things different from the Bentley’s book and the Haynes. I’m quite puzzled. Please help me out if you’re familiar with the over drive. (Please see picture)
1. Pressure filter unit: according to Bentley, Haynes, and the dealer’s part book, there should be either a washer or a seal (not sure what it is) between the plug and the filter. I did not see any in mine.
2. According to Bentley drawing, the steal wire filter should look straight. If you look closely at the picture, mine is like twisted or spiral. Is it normal or I should order a new straight one to replace it?
3. Check valve unit: look normal.
4. Pressure relief valve unit: obviously, mine is the old type 2 as seen in the Bentley’s. Two normal looking shims sit against the plunger; one thin piece (more thin than paper!) sits against the smaller spring. It’s also bigger than the other two. The center hole of it looks irregular (worn?). What do I do? If I put the third piece back in I’m afraid that it will fall apart soon.
5. Both the check valve and pressure relief valve plugs have replaceable O ring. The biggest plug (pressure filter) does not have any O ring to seal against the hole. Also, the plug sits directly against the steel filter, the steel filter against the bottom of the hole without a seal.
