I purchased a 91 245 (146K miles) already in a no-start state. Previous owner had some work done (there were fuel-pump issues, maybe other problems). The mechanic was friendly but couldn't remember what he tried to do. Then it sat for 2 years.
There's no spark from the coil. There is 12V to both sides of the coil and neither side blinks when the engine is turned over.
I replaced the coil with a known good one - no difference.
The OBD system returns 1-1-1.
I suspect the crank sensor. How does one test it without removing it? There's no test procedure in Haynes or Bentley. Once I broke a chunk out of a bellhousing trying to get one out (plastic fused to aluminum) so I don't want to remove it unless I'm sure it's bad.
