Prolonging the life of my ZF transmission 700

I have the ZF transmission in my '87 740 with 127,500 miles. As of currently the transmission shifts perfectly and performs like new.

I just bought the car and need it to last me through 4 years of college and at least 200,000 miles.

I don't abuse my cars, and am aware of what will kill the ZF transmission.

Transmission replacement is out of the question, as is buying a new car. I saved up for this Volvo and have zero left over for another.

According to the records, the transmission was serviced a year ago and it looks like they replaced the fluid with regular ATF and cleaned the filter. This was done at 124k and appears to be the first time it was done.

I am hoping to drive the car down from Washington to Texas this summer. Is it likely that I will have any problems on the trip? Will the hot Texas sun kill my transmission? Or will I be fine as long as I don't do anything stupid?

After I get to my destination, I plan to run some Auto RX through the tranny, flush it, and replace it with Mobil 1 synthetic ATF.

Will that be enough to keep my car running perfectly? Anything I should watch out when driving (ie hard shifting, unusual noises, etc)?
