Another fuel pump relay thread 200 1984

I have a 1984 Volvo 245 K-jet turbo that's having a fuel pump circuit issue.

The fuel pumps come on when I jump fuse 7 to fuse 5. I have multiple fuel pump relays with good looking soldering points on their circuit boards and electromagnets that close the circuit when the engine is spinning, but they still fail to power the fuel pumps.

I have soldiered a couple wires into the fuse box running to a convenient switch under the dashboard that allows me to turn the pumps on and off manually.

I know that this is a potential fire risk in an accident, but is there anything else wrong with doing this?

Will the current be too much through the wire running to fuse 5 if it is having to power all the components on that circuit as well as the fuel pumps?

Are the fuel pumps receiving the correct amount of current using this method? Will this cause them to wear out faster? They seem loud.

Thanks.
