240T stalls while driving 200 1983

This is a 1983, recently intercooled, 240T with automatic transmission (AW71), and about 115,000 miles on it. Runs great until it stalls. It dies while on the road, usually after a bit of driving. Once it stalls, it will usually restart, then it stalls again until I get it home. There is a background item I'll mention in case there may be a relationship. That is, there is a bit of hunting for idle for several seconds after a cold start. The fluctuations aren't very much, though. The base idle was reset per Bentley, and all vacuum and turbo hoses and the idle control valve were replaced. This helped, but didn't make it go away completely. I had the intercooler installed after doing this. Ran fine for about two-three weeks, then this stalling problem started up. I took it out for a test drive today. Ran fine for about 20 miles, running it up to about 65-70 mph; shifting, turbo boost, kickdown, etc, functioning well. Then, it stalled while going about 50 mph. While coasting to a stop with dead engine, I noticed that the dial on the turbo boost gauge would go up to the boost region when I pressed on the accelerator. I thought that was interesting, but wasn't sure what it meant. The car started right up after I got it stopped. This took me another 2 mi before it stalled again at a stop sign. This time it wouldn't restart and acted like the battery was dying as I turned it over several time. I jumpstarted with no problem, and I drove it home. I thought the battery was dead, but it checked out at about 12.6 V with engine off and 14 V with engine on. The main thing I found after getting it home was that there was a leak at the turbo inlet hose going from the air intake to the turbo. Spraying carb cleaner on it, causes the idle to go from about 920 to 1000 rpm, measured with a multimeter. This hose is brand new, and the clamps are on tight, so hard to imagine a leak there, but the meter tells me there is. Loosening the hose and readjusting the hose position and clamps didn't make it go away. Could this be related to the stalling? Obviously needs correcting. That is where I left it today. My apologies for the long post, but I wanted to include all the details. If anyone has any suggestions on troubleshooting the stalling, much appreciated.
