I will try to keep this short. I have a b23f block from my old 84 wagon that is a working engine as-is. It was mated with the m46 so it should be the lower compression version (9.8? or thereabouts). I was thinking about rebuilding the b21f in my 1980 242 and had thoughts of using this as an interim motor.
What should I expect by installing the b21f k-jet head on the b23f block? I was not thinking along the lines of making a b23e (but it would be nice...). I am just concerned with driveability.
I dont feel like converting the 1980 to lh-jetronic, although I have the donor car to do it. Anyway, I like the k-jet.
Has anyone done this, and how do you think it will run? Will the displacement difference affect the k-jet and will I have to mod the head?
BTW: I can't remember, but... was the stock cam from the 1980 b21f k-jet a "T" cam or was it something different. I dont have the motor apart right now, otherwise I would look.
Thanks,
Anthony
