Reverse collar on manual '79 244 dl 200 1979

I am having trouble with the search on the board so i apologize if this topic has been referred to already somewhere, but tonite the reverse collar on my gearshift came unattached from the plastic connector inside the lever that moves the reverse lockout, i lifted the rubber boot and i can lift the reverse lockout by hand and get reverse, but i can't see inside the lever enough to re-attach the collar; any suggestions?
