There are several threads here and on other forums about AT fluids type F & FA. Nothing definitive.
Does Type FA = Type F? Can they be mixed? I think type F was replaced by type FA in the late-70s but not sure.
See the note below that all AT fluids are the same. I don't think this is true.

You're OK. Type FA replaced type F. Same applications. In fact [user C] claims he used to have a job formulating tranny fluids and all auto tranny fluids are the same exact formulation with just different labels!

Type F replaced Type A in 1961. Type FA is a type that can be used for either application. It is usually hard to find. You want the Type F if at all possible.
