question about B16 block numbers (cast and stamped)? 444-544 1958

Hi all:
I have a question about the numbering on the B16 block(s) and what they might mean.
On the engine I pulled there is a tag on the RH side just above the starter that reads B16 - 495385 with the number 10193 stamped behind it. On the LH side of the engine between the two stamped push rod "covers" is cast:
AABF
G [pad]
[pad]
the things I am designating [pad] are just cast in raised areas with no visible stampings.
--
On the new engine I am installing there is no tag on the RH side, The LH area between the pushrod covers has B16 cast in, just below that is a pad that is stamped 8 62 62 .
Just below that is a cast in 4953 and a short pad with 85 stamped on it after the cast in numbers.

There are several details in the castings that differ slightly so I am guessing one may be early and one fairly late, but that IS just a guess.

Anyone happen to know if these numbers can tell me any more about these two engines (year made, orig. applications, etc.) or where I might find this information?

TIA & Cheers!
OK
