Running a '91 240 with 119k. Recently flushed cooling system with distilled water, installed new 92 C Vernet thermostat (FCP Groton) and new OEM coolant pump. Filled with 50/50 distilled H2O and Zerex. Funny thing: temp gauge is consistently running below 9 o'clock...i.e. slightly cool around 8 or 830. Car runs great...good heat from heater core. This car is a peach...barely ever touched by the old guy that owned it: mixed blessing that is. while he never drove it, he never did much else. So, I doubt anyone ever did the temp compensating bypass. Before the flush the system was filled with the sort of carbonates, etc. that only southeastern PA well-water could produce.
What gives? Is this temp gauge variance a big deal?
