Replaced in-tank pump, now stalling for lack of fuel 200

Yesterday I had some cutting out problems (detailed in a separate thread). I made it home and replaced the in-tank pump - the old one was bad. It seemed to start and run fine so I didn't even test drive it.

Today however it's not drivable: it stalls 2-3-4 times when you start it; it dies when you give it pedal. I made it ~ 1/4 mile from home, turned around and limped back.

When it stalls it restarts immediately but dies as you try to move forward. Idles fine. All classic symptoms of a clogged fuel filter or weak pump.

Net, it's just a worse version of what happened yesterday when it had a bad in-tank pump.

I tried 2 fuel-pump relays and I'm going out now to try a 3rd. Then I'm going to recheck the underdash fuses and connections and the 25-AMP underhood fuse.

Then I'm going to pull the main pump and replace that filter.

I'm baffled that it would run worse with a working in-tank pump.

And the in-tank pump is noisy - worse than any I've had. It wasn't when I tested it outside the tank so it's as if it's making hard metal contact with the tank.
