1990 740 Cluster Faceplate Q 700

Can the cluster be pulled and the faceplate be removed?

When I bought the car some one had messed with the cluster. The small lot that sold her to me got busted for odo fraud, so that is probably what happened. The car was from Texas and we all know that used cars from Texas are usually in very good cosmetic shape but with very high miles. So running the odo back is probably what happened.

Anyway, the fool who did this to me/my car was eating a burger when he had the faceplate off, as there are some sesame seeds and the juice imprint of part of a tomato slice on the INSIDE of the plastic.

I do not give a rat's butt about the odo fraud as he is in jail and my car is still great. I probably paid too much based on actual miles, but not much. However, this cosmetic nastiness has bugged me for nine long years and I want to clean that plastic properly. Can it be done? I mean, is it glued shut? If so, it was probably re-glued and I do not want to mess with it for fear of cracking or breakage. But if it is supposed to be removable then I want to clean that bugger.

Anyone have experience with this? (Sorry about the meandering post. But it IS sort of funny if you think about it.)
