Hi…I recently acquired an ’87 740 Turbo Wagon with 164,000 miles that was not running. It was determined that the inline fuel pump and filter were completely plugged. After replacing these items, the car starts and runs. I have noticed that when accelerating from a stop, the car has a vibration that feels like a miss. I replaced the spark plugs and checked the spark plug wires with an ohmmeter. They checked out ok (less than 28K of resistence). With new plugs, the car still vibrates upon accelerating. I was still thinking this was a miss until I tried putting a load on the engine while holding the brake (power braking). The engine fires just fine with no vibration while I hold the brake. When I release the brake and allow the car to accelerate, I get the vibration that feels like a miss. To me it seems like something in the drivetrain is causing the vibration since it doesn’t do it when I’m holding the car still with the brakes. I would think that an ignition miss would appear with or without being held by the brake. Would a bad motor or transmission mount act this way? Any and all help would be appreciated.
