Hey all
My '94 945 Turbo has 126K on it, so when I was at the local "Volvo-only" garage last to have a new exhaust kit installed, week I had them perform the valve adjustment as well some other 120K tasks.
When I took the car home I noticed copious amounts of oil dripping down the driver's side of the engine (plus a little smoke from oil that worked its way to the manifold). I brought the oil to the correct level and returned the car to have the valve cover gasket replaced; they also topped off the oil.
Since then, when driving the smell of burned oil has developed (it's noticeable in the car itself and in the garage). After driving for about 10 mins., smoke will *randomly* puff from the tailpipe (but only every several minutes, and either on acceleration or sometimes when reapplying the gas after coasting).
With the engine warm, if I remove either the dipstick or the oil filler cap, I immediately see smoke curling up. Finally, I see a minor amount of blackened oil at the tailpipe exit.
Oil level is at right at the top of the "crosshatch" marks on the dipstick, so I don't think I'm overfilled.
Before I go back to the garage a third time, can you help me figure out what is wrong? Many thanks,
--Greg
