Last weekend I picked up a 90 780 Turbo. It is solid and intact, with 140K on it, but very much a project car. One of the many things it needs (thankfully, mostly mechanical in nature) is replacement of the rear shocks, which are the dreaded Nivomats. I am wondering if it is possible to install the springs and upper spring perches from a 960 with conventional shocks, and thereby be able to use affordable Boges, Bilsteins, or even KYBs. If not a 960, perhaps a late 760 with IRS. I have seen a few of each in area junkyards, so I should be able to get the parts with no difficulty, I just need to know what to look for.
