Our 93 245 has developed a rough cold idle. If the engine is cold, when I first start it, the idle is rough and lumpy and it won't take throttle if I try to rev it a bit. After about 1 minute, the idle smooths out and it takes throttle like it should. The car drives fine and shows no other symptoms. It starts up right away and doesn't stall or anything like that. I changed the plugs the other day and they were black rather than light brown. I also installed new cap, rotor, plug wires and air cleaner since it was due for a routine tune-up. None of this made any difference in the cold-start idle. The ambient temperature here rarely gets much below freezing. Would the air control valve be a suspect? Any ideas would be appreciated. The car has 174k on it.
