NAPA has 2 different oil filters for the '91 and ''93 240 ?? 200 1993

I am out of Mann filters so I had to go to NAPA for my recent oil changes.I was changing the oil in my '93 240 and my daughter's '91 240. The woman asked me what years I needed oil filters for and I stated it didn't matter that my volvos used the same filter.She said the '91 was different than the '93. why?
I do know the '91 filter must be longer because I can't get my finger between the motor mount and the filter.any input on this ??
