Replace 700 door lock with 740/240? 700 1990

The door locks in my 760 won't turn any more, ignition fine, lift gate fine, It was suggested to me that the 760 locks are not good. That I should get a 740/240 lock for the doors. It will mean two keys but so what. I tried this but the lock cylinder is a little long and the linkage binds a little. Does anyone have experience with this?
