I realize the hoods changed for the 700/900 series in 1991.
I am referencing this question to the cars that are not equipped with fog lights inboard from the headlights.
The raised portion in the center of the hood is a different width in the front in order to match up with the different width grill that changed for the 1991 model year. This also accounts for the different size pieces that go between the headlight and the grill (painted the color of the car).
Otherwise the hood seems to be a direct swap between the 90 model year and the 91-95 models.
The headlights themselves are the same 90-95. The pieces that provide the top attachment points for the grill are of a different size, however (these are attached to the inboard sides of the headlights).
My situation is that I have a 1994 944 project car that needs a replacement hood. I have one that is correct but it needs a bit of body work and the final color is black; which means the panel work needs to be perfect (adding dollars to the project).
I also have a 1990 parts car with a perfect hood. It also has the black turbo grill which I would prefer to use.
Has anyone here done this before? If I swap out the pieces that match the width of the grill from the 1990 I can't see why it would not work, but perhaps I am missing something. Thanks for any insight.
