I just bought my 240DL wagon 2 weeks ago; it was running great, well as great as a 21year old car would run. Today it decided it didn't want to start up, it cranks but doesn't want to start; but it seems to start after many many attempts and is random. I'm not going to pretend that I know what I'm doing, I know nothing about cars. My boyfriend has tried a bunch of things that we've found on many websites including this one and it still doesn't want to start. Is there anything that you guys might suggest? Oh a little thing to add, when we turned the key enough to give the car power there was a weird sound coming from a relay harness, when we took the cover off it there was a dark liquid in it. After getting rid of the liquid and drying the relay, after a few trys it started, I let it sit for a few min. so we could check out a few other area in the car and the car died, tried to start it up again and it just cranks......I have no idea what I got myself into...
