Hi everyone,
I'm considering converting my family's 1989 760 Turbo to run on electricity (keyword: considering) but in order to have acceptable range and performance with a DC layout (AC is too expensive for me), I'd have to have a manual transmission; something the car doesn't have.
One advantage with EVs (Electric Vehicles) is the possibility of using a clutchless manual transmission because electric motors do not idle at stops, defeating the need for one. This lowers weight and simplifies the automatic to manual tranny conversion process.
But to begin with, is a 1989 760 Turbo automatic to manual transmission conversion even possible?
Cordially,
