'90 740 turbo coolent sensor replacement

Well... I removed the intake and found the correct sensor. I took it out, replaced it and put everything back as it was. I replaced one more vacuum line that looked questionable. All of this took less than 45 minutes I think. Got in to start and ... Runs worse than before. Check engine light came on. Now throwing code 1-2-3 on socket 2 and still 2-2-4 on socket 6. I just read the FAQ sent by Joe sent to my other thread (wasnt up before I started this) and think I may have done a couple of things wrong. I didnt disconnect the battery. I know one should do this before any work like this but as much as this thing has put me through thus far, it just slipped my mind. I hope I didnt screw anything up because of that. I may have also caused the sensor to not get proper ground to the head because I used sealant on the threads. So it looks like I may be doing this procedure again. Also, if you are reading this, does anyone know if the ecu needs to be case grounded? i.e., bolted back into the car? Thanks to all who post! This seems to be the best forum of the six or so I have seen on the web.
