On a long trip, my '79 242 suddenly got loud as all hell on the free way, but only when I'd step on the gas. It sounds like a motorcycle missing a muffler.

Pulled over to look at what happened, the car wouldn't idle and it died.

The first thing I noticed was a missing exhaust manifold stud, but I've had that problem in the past and it never got as loud as it did tonight.

Is there anywhere else I should check? As it stands the car is pretty much undriveable (It was an adventure finally getting home).
