This is my first post here (I'm a Land Cruiser guy over @ ih8mud.com), but I've been using a 740T Wagon as my daily commuter and I am now experiencing some issues with it.
Did a quick search and couldn't find anything that exactly matched my issue, so here goes:
- Over the past couple days the car will intermittently hesitate under acceleration for a short period, then catch up and start accelerating.
- Today, I had several intermittent issues where the car would lose power - the engine went to a rough idle between 600-800RPM and would not accelerate. I pulled over each time this happened and let the car idle in D. Idling was fine, no warning lights, all electrical stuff working fine, voltage meter fine. When I pressed on the gas in D, the revs dropped and the idle got much rougher but the car did not move at all. If I tried to rev in N, still nothing, the idle just got very rough and revs dropped. It did not stall - if I mashed the pedal to the floor the idle just got rough and the car sputtered, but NO forward movement. One time this happened going uphill and I did this and the car basically stopped, but would lurch forward a little at a time and I was able to limp up the hill. The other instances, this did not happen.
- I got the car to work properly again by letting it idle for a minute, shutting it off, then cranking it and it worked fine, but I noticed intermittent loss of power (just little blips) while heading down the freeway at 65 mph.
Thoughts? Again, I'm new to working on Volvos but I am fairly technically competent.
Thanks in advance,
Phil
