When I apply brakes above a light pressure, ie moderate to heavy, the steering wheel vibrates violently. I have checked for loose front suspension parts, but all seems OK.
Have changed from snow to summer tires with no change.
Car does not pull on braking and tracks straight.
Pulled right wheel and I can see side to side movement of the disc relative to the brake pads. When turning the disc by hand, I can feel it grab at one spot each revolution.
The discs look fairly new actually ( I have had the car only 4 months).
The wobble looks about 0.3 to 0.5mm .
It desperately needs front shocks and I guess this could be exacerbating the situation, but I have never had a 240 or 740 with a warped rotor, Volvo brakes are so great, and I don't brake hard ever!
Could this amount of run out be a problem? How would I accurately measure this? Could it be a mounting problem? If so, can the disc be measured off the car?
Ideas welcome.
