J OD part determinatioin 140-160

I pulled the J off my M410 to replace gaskets and O rings. This a '70 1800 setup I plan to install in my '68 144. The J came off the M410 very easy. When I tipped J over to drain oil out front I heard something rattle. I tipped it back and forth. Out came a bushing or ring. About size of a ring. Inside of bushing appears to be bronze. The bushing fits onto the end of the inpout shaft of the J. The bushing has a split across it. Not sure if the split is by design or fatique.

I have a spare J and have yet been able to determine where this bushing came from. It looks like it might have come from back inside the J near the output end.

Does anyone know where this bushing goes? What about the split? And how does one put it back?

Craig
