Went to inspect the steering for leaks and found some wires wrapped around the steering shaft... 200 1989

I have no idea where these wires go. It's part of a three wire (all three are green) harness. They were wrapped twice around the steering shaft. I followed it back to the engine bay and they follow a bundle of wires under the intake hose and battery and through a hole that leads under the headlight. It's not anything to do with the oxygen sensor, those lines are still intact. The car runs pretty well, save for a rough idle after a cold start up and the occasional stall when i put it in reverse after driving it for a while. What the heck could these wires be?
