I have a 92 Volvo 240 with a dying trans (aw71)
I want to replace the trans and while Im at it, replace rear main seal, replace oil pan gasket, replace rear cam seal, replace motor and trans mounts. I have dropped several engines in before, but none were a volvo. I have all the tools and I have read all the books, I just have a couple questions from anyone who has done it before.
Now my questions:
1. Is it ok to remove the engine and trans as one unit thru the top (engine bay)
2. Can the normal engine hoist hooks (one off thermostat, one off header) handle the weight of the engine and trans, if not where do I hook up the crane/load leveler to?
3. I have an adjustable 4 point engine stand from my last mustang 5.0 engine rebuild, can I use that on my b230f, or are there different mounting points. I assume I can bolt the stand up to the flywheel housing bolt holes?
4. Do I have to remove the belt accessories before the engine is pulled. Im guessing the same goes for the radiator too?
thanks
Geoffrey
