I was driving home the other night and all of a sudden the car started making a high pitched rythmic whining sound and sounded as if it were coming from under the hood of the car while I was driving.

The sound was in a rythum like a car alarm going off and had the sound like an old VW horn trying to blow, but didnt have enough juice to make it really sound like a horn. A really loud buzzing kind of a noice in a rythum.

Car ran fine and all gauges said everything was fine and I finally made it home. Checked under the hood for the sound and it was not from under the hood.

Sounded like the main fuel pump. Turned the car off and started to check all of the usual things....

in-tank pump working
brand new fuel pressure reg
relay ok

So Im thinking main fuel pump and started to prep it for being replaced by hosing it down good with Blaster.

Came back out later to hose it down again and the noise has stopped.

Could this be the death warning that the main pump is going out?????
