A Radiator Replacement Question 200

About a month ago, the original radiator broke on my 1990 245. I opted for the radiator designed for an automatic transmission even though my car is a true 5-speed (M-47) (There was a $400 price difference). Everything was working fine until last Thursday. The seal on the "electric fan" plug and seal began to leak. I drove it all day and it gradually got worse. The plug and seal were extremely difficult to install (I pressed and "screwed" them into the hole).

Last Thursday, the seal began to leak. It got worse as the day went on. I ordered a new seal and plug. Is there something I did wrong? Did I not install the seal correctly? Why three weeks of working fine then the seal fails?

Please help. Anyone who has LOTS of experience.

Todd :-)
