Best constant power source for hooking up clock? 120-130

I found a nice dashboard clock from an early 240. Rectangular, I figure I can rework it a bit and install it where my ashtray is located. For now I just need to power it.

I made a medium length two-wire harness for the clock and after grounding one wire, I hooked the power side to the fusebox. I thought #1 had constant power, but after a test-drive and sitting over night, it only worked as a stop-watch to time my commute (only ran with the ignition on).

I tried a couple other open prongs and sides on the fuseblock but had no luck. I know I can run a wire to the battery, but that seems in-elegant.

Maybe I should piggyback it to one of the headlight switch wires? or maybe to the courtesy/parcel/shelf light? It seems a fuse circuit would be best, but it seems silly to fuse up a single wire for my clock. Then again, burning wires are not much fun either...

Any suggestions?
