hello all. i started a thread last week about some vibrations and clunking and was told it was probably a worn out lower ball joint. i got a new one and started the process of removing the old one but have not been able to get it out of the control arm. i don't have a pickle fork but after looking at the bearing i don't think it would help anyways seeing as there is a large gap between the control arm and the top of the ball joint. also there was about 1/2" of play. i thought that it might be easier to get it out if i removed the bearing from the strut first so i did that but still had no luck. do i need to get a ball joint press or is that only for installing ball joints?
if i could get some sort of clamp that had a fork on the top for getting around the top of the ball joint and a flat bottom for pushing the BJ out of the control arm that would be perfect if such a tool existed.
any tips would be helpful.
thanks in advance
