Regarding my '79 242, 424K miles, M-46 transmission.
This is a problem I've been fighting for months now. The car starts okay... although it doesn't idle perfect when cold. It will stay running though.
Once it warms up it just dies. Adjusting the idle screw makes it run for a few minutes more but it eventually dies again, even with the screw fully open.
I've given it a tune up (wires, cap, rotor, plugs). No difference made. Checked all the vacuum hoses. (I even bypassed the brake booster thinking that it had developed a problem, but it made no difference.)
Fuel economy, when it does run, is down below normal levels too.
My only last thought it that my injectors might be dirty, but I'm not certain it would produce symptoms quite like these (I've never dealt with it in the past).
Any other ideas? I don't know what else to do.
