I am looking at a 1979 242 with no rust and a 4 speed manual tranny.

Were these engines carb or FI? I am looking to get this car as a daily commute/slow restore.

Also, how easy would it be to swap out the M45 with an M46? Since I'm using this to daily commute, I want to get a 5 speed, but this car is a great deal. I have a means to source a new tranny.

Anything else I should know about this car?
