On occasions, usually when very hot ambient temp, and usually after a long drive, will not turn over. Wait 5, 10, 20 minutes, turns over and starts right up. Past weekend I took car to Ann Arbor Michigan from Scranton, Pa, and after driving about 200 miles stopped at rest stop and car would not crank. Waited 5 minutes and started right up. This was first time would not start in cool weather. I left the car in Ann Arbor for my daughter to use and she will drive to New York and then to Scranton on July 31, when it will probably be very hot. Would like to tell her what to replace before ride home...just in case.
Car has new crank sensor, rotor, plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, battery, and installed used coil assembly about 1 yr ago. Also replaced electric fan as old one was frozen up, but new one (used) never worked. Does car lock out on high temp because of fan not working? Starter problem?
I love this car. Have it about 14 years and have had 2 164s, and a 240 that are history but still have this one, as well as a 95 960, a 98 s70 and a 2000 s70. They were and all great cars.
Appreciate any help on this 90 740 wagon w/ Regina ignition.
