Rough idle/hesitation/stumble cured 200 1985

Those who have read my posts know that I have been fighting a rough idle problem, with an off idle hesitation/stumble. I had finally gotten my fuel economy to a point that I was happy with (in excess of 29 MPG with auto transmission). I finally changet the fuel filter this morning. I didn't have much hope for that being a problem, since I had the 90,000 mile service performed at one of the local Dealerships a few months ago, and the filter wasn't due for a change for several thousand more miles. Imagine my surprise when I found the filter was still the same one that I had installed about 45,000 miles ago. The Dealership had not even touched the filter. Makes me wonder what I got for my bill of almost $800.00.

On start-up, the rough idle is gone, and on the test drive, the hesitation/stumble is gone too. The old girl runs like it did 23 years ago. I can't believe that I have thrown so much money at a problem that could have been solved by a fuel filter. Needless to say, I won't ever give that Dealership another nickle of my money.

Bill
