grinding noise at idle 700

Hello everyone,I need your help w/ a problem w/ my 1989 740 with 206,ooo+ miles on it.When I start the car it makes a grinding noise at idle which comes from the front of the engine.I have also noticed that the crankshaft pulley has "play" when i wiggle it. I would appreciate if anyone can give me an idea what the grinding noise might be.Thanks.
