stumped/ car will start but then die after 5-20 seconds later. 200

My 83 245 has no problem starting. The idle will be at 800 like I've set it and then it just starts struggling with the idle going up and down. First it drops to 200 rpm then goes up to 900 and then drops to 200 and then as it attempts to go back up it dies. Sometimes when I give it gas it will run fine but then other times it doesn't matter it still will die. I mean like today after I replaced the in-tank pump and filter (hoping a rusty tank was causing it) I started the car and held it at 2000rmp with my foot on the pedal. I held it steady while the car ran fine for a few seconds and then slowly at first it dropped the rpm on its own and then struggled and died. I can drive it at times with no real problem and then it will hesitate or loose some power.

I've already switched out the AMM w/ known good one. I've switched out the fuel relays. Replaced the in-take accordian hose. I've gone over the vacume hoses too. I've switched out the FPR as well. I'm stumped. This started however after I cleaned the Idle control valve. I took it out again and used some swabs with throttle body fluid to clean it out. I added a little bit of motor oil with a ear swab and the little door opens and closes when I turn it quickly. Although its not perfect every time so it may be catching. But I figure once the throttle switch is cleared by the gas pedal being pressed it wouldn't cause the car to die. Anyone have an idea. I don't have a way to check the fuel pressure. It runs smooth for a little while and then dies. It seems to run better or doesn't die after it warms up a bit.
