1989/90 740GL Stalling At Junctions and Downhill 700 1989

My 740GL is stalling at random intervals. Subjectively this seems to happen at junctions especially ones with tight turns and those on a slope. I have replaced the crank position sensor (cable was very warn and definitely needed to go) and the injection relay. It still stalls. The clip that attaches the radio suppression relay to the coolant tank has gone and will be replaced soon. Is there any other recommendations before I walk through the FAQ? My father-in-law use to run Volvos and tells me of a story of someone telling him about some blocked up hole (air hole) that needed the engine stripping down to unblock - anyone know about this? Is there an oil additive that would help? I think the rev counter tends to drop away as soon as the stall occurs which would suggest ignition. This there an easy test on the ignition module or should I just replace it? Is the fact it happens on sloped junctions significant? I have a new dizzy cap and the injectors have been checked.

P.S. The car has done 284k miles! Is there a definitive check I can do on which side of the 89/90 change the car lies?

P.P.S Can anyone recommend a good Volvo garage in Coventry/West Midlands?
