Odo still wont work with new gear tooth 200 1986

I have a 86 volvo 240 I just purchased.
The odo gear tooth was stripped. I replaced
it and the darn odo still doesnt work. What
should I look at? What could be the problem?
Everything else works on the cluster perfect.
