I'll try and be more to the point than usual.

Can you have a spark when you set static timing, but get no spark at all when you are cranking for ignition?

I see a nice clear spark when I set static timing, but read nothing at all with an inductive timing light when cranking. The same timing light *does* read spark from the coil to the cap when I try to start the car.
