R12 or R134 700

I have a leaking A/C compressor (Both ends flanges leak)
I need to order a new compressor as I'm told that this one can't be rebuilt.
Should I stick with R12 (I can get it locally, but who knows for how long?)
or should I convert now to R134A?

I'm told that R12 is a better refrigerant
