Last summer I replaced lower ball joints and the uppers that are part of the control arms. The local parts places wanted maybe $5-600 for the parts, OUCH.
I was happy to find the parts from FCP for about $150. And a local garage
installed them.
Now 10 months and 6000 miles later the ball joints have failed. ACH!

FCP is good about replacing the parts at no charge, but I don't want to
be replacing more of the same shoddy parts.

The parts are labeled: "Made for Karlyn Industries"and "Made in Taiwan"
I gather Karlyn is a long time quality supplier, But perhaps they are
suddenly packaging junk from China?
The ball joints ar stamped "JMSTAR" which is a chinese motorcycle manufacturer
in Shanghai. As far as I know, Shanghai is in mainland China.
Several of my local mechanic friends have told me about garbage ball joints from China, that they fail almost immediately.

I guess I'll call Karlyn this Monday and see what they say about JMSTAR parts,
and if they, in fact, have any arrangement with JMSTAR.
I'd like to collar the responsible party to pay for the additional installation
expense caused by their shoddy products.

What ever happened to Ball joints that would last forever, the ones with grease fittings?
