AC recharge 700 1987

Hi folks,

My AC (converted to R134a) system appears intact, compressor runs (I can hear it, and it bumps my revs), and once, a while ago, it blew air slightly below ambient temperature on a warm day. I figure my first step is to add a charge of 134a and see if it helps, then go from there.

I bought a charge kit (with integral pressure gauge) from Walmart, and now have proceeded to read the FAQ - that advises against blindly charging your AC system like I plan to do.

Advice, guys? I have never done AC work before, but since I'm competent enough to change a timing belt (and write computer code!), I figure that I can handle it.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Ari
