Auto transmission does not shift into high gear 1800 1971

Hello All
I posted in the past how my tranny does not want to shift into third.
I was told to check the linkage bushings.
I finally got around to that and rebushed the linkage and it is fairly tight now. This did not seem to help. To shift into high gear I have to shift into neutral and then bring it back into drive.If I stop I have tr repeat the procedure. This tells me that it probably is not the linkage.Could it be the kickdown cable I do not think so. This shifting into neutral seems to work fine but I would like to fix it if possible so someone else could drive it if necessary.
