Hi folks,
The ever-lasting tune-up continues. I figure that by August-September I'll be finished, and I'll have the best running 740GLE on the planet!!!
A few things I needed some help understanding:
Occasionally flickering dash lights. Not the whole array (like when the alt stops charging) but the ones that are on (usually parking brake and the bulb-out indicator) flicker slightly. I noticed this when my harmonic balancer failed, then it seemed to get better for a short while... now it's here again. I hear a little squeek when I give the car gas when it is cold, and that may be my alternator belt slipping... but I also think my voltage regulator is pretty worn (haven't looked).
Hunting idle (when in park - idle is perfect in gear). I'm still on the hunt for vacuum leaks - now come the large-diameter hoses under the intake manifold. Anybody know what sizes these are, the ones that meet the T-connector under there, and go to the vacuum canister? They seem near 3/8".
Good news I have to mention:
Gas mileage - much much better, must be near 32 on this last highway trip. As soon as I'm independently wealthy, I'll do a complete fill-up and calculate my mileage properly. :P
Turned over 250k miles while on the road today.
Lucas helped my transmission considerably, especially under high throttle pressure. It takes two full bottles in a transmission of the AW70L's size to make a difference.
Thanks, y'all. Peace out,
Ari
