I've got an '87 240 wagon, which just today developed a very noticeable shudder when accelerating and decellerating around 10-20mph. It started up just after I had driven it offroad, over lotsa small shrubs that scraped the underside (incidentally, I drive it offroad often for work purposes, so this type of driving was not unusual). I did some research on here and poked around under the car, and my first suspicion is the center bearing support. I've read on here that sometimes this can be solved by adjusting the height of the mount using washers (these were on 700/900 cars); it wasn't immediately intuitive to me how to do this. So my questions are these: Can I adjust the mount position using washers and is this worth a try? Also, what else might be the cause that could have happened while driving offroad? The tranny mount is 5 months old, the engine mounts are older but still good. Thanks for you help!
