n Tank Pump electrical connector broke. Can I bypass with eyelets on wires? 200 1988

In Tank Pump electrical connector broke while replacing pump and sock.

Can I bypass the broken connector to the motor? It literally fell apart to the touch. Can I solder on a couple of regular eyelets to the ends of the wires, connect them to the new pump, and have safe and happy functioning? Thanks much.
