Rheostat Repair 140-160

Hi,

I’ve had a problem that I have noticed that others have had. The lights on the dash didn’t work. The rheostat was broken. I decided to investigate why the rheostat was broken. It’s a simple device.

I removed the dash. The rheostat is held on by a screw at the rear. Once this is removed the rheostat would not release. I prised apart the two small tabs that held the plastic housing. Once these were released I was able to remove the majority of the unit.

The problem was that the unit was corroded. I took a small brass wire brush and cleaned the rotating component and contacts on the plastic unit. Once the unit was reassembled I lightly lubricated it.

The unit now works.

Anyway I hope that this helps.

Regards,

Darren.
